Secret Santa is here, bringing good cheer!

Sarah Trueman new year new job, new year, new job...

It's that wonderful time of year again, and in the run-up to Christmas, we've started the festivities at Vetro by playing Secret Santa in the office. We're taking advantage of every opportunity to soak in as much Christmas cheer as possible... After all, we all remember what happened last year!

Do you know where the Secret Santa tradition originated? The idea can be traced back to the Scandinavian tradition of knocking on someone’s door, throwing a present inside when it opens, then running away. They call this Juklapp, or “knocking Christmas.”

Could you be a Secret Santa this year?

Within our core values we are continuing to broaden the scope of our social duties and collaborations, and this year we truly love the Action for Children's Secret Santa campaign - #IAmSanta.

As a team, we are back at the office, but we appreciate that many others are still working from home. Or if like our agency workers, you might be working across a variety of services, you will be working with lots of different teams. This can feel quite isolated at times, but if you would like to get into the festive vibe, you could be a Secret Santa for a vulnerable child with the charity Action for Children. Many children in the UK will face Christmas without food, warmth, or love. Your gift could help change this.

Children’s Residential Services

Action for Children has a number of projects that they support, including children in care settings. We are really proud to support this initiative as a company. Working in recruitment within the children’s residential services sector, we see firsthand the passion, commitment, and dedication of the people who work within these homes. Christmas can be a really emotional and unsettling time of year for these children. From the support workers right through to the registered managers, the team works hard to provide a happy and safe environment for the children, and at Christmas, they spend their time away from their own families for the children and young people to create some happy memories at Christmas. With #IAmSanta, Action for Children will ensure that as many vulnerable children will receive food, warmth, and love this Christmas.

Would you love a career in Children’s Residential Services?

Unfortunately, the number of children and young people moving into residential care is growing. This means that there are more opportunities for passionate, motivated individuals who want to make a difference to help shape the future of these young people.
