I started my career as a support Worker working with the Elderly in nursing homes. At this point, I realised a career in Mental health nursing was for me and started studying for my BSc in Mental Health Nursing at Queens University Belfast.
In 2010 I started my nursing career in a Mental Health Rehabilitation Hospital in North Wales. It was in this role I realised my passion for supporting people in crisis and wanted a more challenging role and moved to Cardiff to work in secure Psychiatric Services. I progressed through secure Psychiatric services as a Nurse, Senior Nurse, Charge Nurse and eventually Ward Manager overseeing 60+ staff.
From this role, I entered the world of recruitment in 2016. I realised that I wanted to have more influence on the quality of staff that came into my sector and at the same time an opportunity came up to join a specialist Nursing Agency. My experience as Nurse and manager has given me invaluable insight into the needs of services, services users and staff.
I have now joined Vetro Nursing, a CIW (Care Inspectorate Wales) Registered Nursing agency. I work closely with my clients, Nurses and support staff, reviewing the quality of service and using feedback to continuously improve the service they receive from Vetro Nursing.
In my spare time, I love walking my 3 dogs and attending live music festivals.
