This is an exciting time to join an award-winning agency in supporting care services across South Wales. We are working closely with a number of clients including a supported living in Newport for adults with Autism and other complex needs. The home currently supports two males, although they are able to support up to three. As well as Autism, the adults you will be supporting will have additional communication needs and sensory impairments.
This is similar to a bank Support Worker job and is a great way to add some variety to your working week while gaining experience in a variety of different settings! We support a whole range of clients across Cardiff and the Vale, Newport, Torfaen, RCT and Blaenau Gwent.
What can you bring to this Support Worker job?
As a Support Worker, you will be caring, empathetic and enthusiastic. You will be comfortable working with challenging behaviours and supporting vulnerable adults to engage in different activities in the community. Due to the requirements while on shift, you should hold a full UK driving licence.
What will you do as a Support Worker?
As a Support Worker you will be responsible for the following;
- Giving individuals the chance to lead a full life instead of isolation or family dependence
- Giving people with Autism the confidence and skills to enjoy activities that others take for granted
- Creating and encouraging good relationships and communication with the people who use the service
- Ensuring the safety of the service users and maintaining an up to date knowledge of each individual’s care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication
- Varying levels of personal care
- Supporting in situations with challenging behaviours in a safe and sympathetic way
