We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and committed BSL teaching assistant to work in a mainstream secondary school in Conwy..
As a BSL teaching assistant you will be working with an individual student who is profoundly deaf and will need support with communication and classwork such as numeracy, literacy and skills. Applicants will need to have experience of working with children in a similar setting using BSL to Level 2.

    Key Requirements:
    • At least 3 months experience of working with children in schools, nurseries, or similar
    • Experience in additional needs
    • Minimum BSL Level 2 trained or above
    • Be registered with the EWC (School Support Worker)
    • References covering the last two years (no gaps)
    • Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to take one out
    • The Right to Work in the UK
    Duties will include:
    • Supporting and supervising educational games, sports, and craft activities
    • May have to assist with personal care, hoists and manual handling
    • Restraint training techniques would be an advantage but not essential
    • Experience in Autism would be an advantage
    • Helping children with their reading
    • Preparing the classroom for a lesson
    • Working with pupils in small groups/and or working 1:1 with children with additional needs
    • Putting together displays of children’s work
    • Helping out on school trips
    • Supporting teachers in managing class behaviour
    • Listening to children read, reading to them, or telling them stories
    • Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks
    • Supervising group activities
