Shifts: 8am - 8pm / 8pm - 8am (flexibility is needed on covering both days and waking nights due to varying requirements)
Contract type: Flexible agency work
Pay: £9.25 - £11.75 per hour including holiday pay (rates advertised are inclusive of umbrella rates)
Benefits: Flexible work, weekly pay and a dedicated consultant
Requirements: A full UK driving licence essential due to transport requirements of children and young people in the home
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of children and young people? We are looking for passionate people to join our client on a flexible agency basis. You will have the opportunity to support young people with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties across two residential homes in Swansea. The client are able to offer placements to children and young people aged 0 to 18 years but are currently supporting two young people between 14 and 16 years old.
Our client's main goal is for the children and young people they support to become independent, a part of the community and for their confidence to develop so they can flourish in all they do. They are keen for those in their care to use the local community and sport to encourage personal development. If this is something that you would love to be involved with, you are the person we are waiting to hear from!
Due to the vulnerability of the young people you will be supporting, you will ideally have experience with children and young people already. Failing this, you will have worked in other Social Care settings such as mental health services or other environments where there are challenging behaviours. You must hold a full UK driving licence due to the transport requirements of the young people you will support.
Responsibilities as a Support Worker:
- To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes
- To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being
- To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age
- Maintain a safe environment for the young people
- Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining an up to date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication
