Vetro Education North Wales has a rewarding job role for a passionate teaching assistant to support children with special educational needs.

The role is full time Monday to Friday 8:45am-3:15pm, to start September 2021 until July 2022.

As a teaching assistant you will be working within a Primary nurture class where you will be supporting individuals and small groups of students with a variety of needs. You will be required to have a good understanding of core subjects such as English, Maths and Science and have the ability to use de-escalation techniques to manage behaviour. 

To be successful for this position the ideal applicant will have a level 2 or 3 teaching assistant certificate, or similar and must have worked with students up to key stage 2 and have experience with autism, attachment disorders or ADHD.

    Key Requirements:
    • At least 3 months experience of working with children in schools, nurseries, or similar
    • Experience in SEN
    • Be registered with the EWC (School Support Worker)
    • References covering the last two years (no gaps)
    • Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to take one out
    • The Right to Work in the UK
    Duties will include:
    • Supporting and supervising educational games, sports, and craft activities
    • Helping children with their reading
    • Preparing the classroom for a lesson
    • Working with pupils in small groups/and or working 1:1 with children with additional needs
    • Putting together displays of children’s work
    • Helping out on school trips
    • Supporting teachers in managing class behaviour
    • Listening to children read, reading to them, or telling them stories
    • Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks
    • Supervising group activities
