Primary school teachers have a variety of duties beyond just teaching and lesson planning. It is a varied role that can be incredibly rewarding.

You will be expected to take charge of the class in the absence of the usual class teacher. Lessons are often already planned for you but you should be prepared with a bank of ideas and resources just incase. You will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of schools, classes and learners of all abilities. As part of your daily role and responsibilities you are expected to mark all lessons taught by yourself and leave feedback for the Teacher you are covering in order to ensure they are able to successfully continue the learning of the class.

There are three main ways of gaining QTS:

You will also need a valid DBS on the update service or be happy to obtain a new one.
