We are looking to appoint a Supervising Social Worker to join an independent fostering agency to join their team based in the Wiltshire area.
The services provides residential care and education to Young People with emotional behavioural difficulties and challenging behaviour and boasts an outstanding track record with Ofsted and the continuous commitment to improve their service.
About the Organisation
The service is an Independent Fostering Agency providing provision of services to Local Authorities; services include placements for children 0 - 18 years and specialist services.
About the Role
The Supervising Social Worker will contribute to the delivery of fostering services within Enhanced Foster Care to ensure these remain of a high standard and as a minimum, meets or exceeds, the National Minimum Standards.
You will be required to actively promote and maintain the quality of care and level of service within the organisations family placements. In doing so, you will participate in the growth and development of the region and contribute to recruitment campaigns. Will directly manage foster carers through supervisory relationships and assist in their professional development and will manage and maintain all statutory work with children/young people.
Assessments are undertaken within foster placements where it is deemed appropriate and necessary for a parent and child to be in a fostering family based environment for the purpose of assessment, or support for learning how to parent safely. You will provide a high level of teaching, guidance, monitoring and assessment within a supportive context.
You will be responsible for:
- Recruitment, training and supervision of Foster Carers
- Undertaking Form F Assessments as required
- Managing a varied but reduced caseload of complex cases
- Contributing to the development of safer caring practice and safeguarding of all children/young people
- Panel support and attendance
- Working therapeutically with children/young people, including overseeing therapeutic plans and providing a trauma recovery approach
- To form part of the multidisciplinary team and work effectively alongside Social Workers, teachers, support workers and a diverse Clinical Team
- Essential FULL UK licence and access to own vehicle
- Qualified social worker and HCPC registered.
The ideal candidate
The Ideal candidate will have prior experience working at a Supervisory level either in a Local Authority or IFA and have extensive knowledge of legislation regarding fostering. You will also possess the capability of handling and protecting case loads of foster carers whilst offering supervision and support.
