We are currently seeking a full time support worker to work within an assisted support role. This is a unique role where you will be supporting a gentleman with learning disabilities.
The job can be quite physically demanding and is a 2:1 support role whilst he is out in the community. Although there is home based care involved, the gentleman likes to go for long walks in the woods, running, jumping & swimming so you must be active and happy to be doing a varied, community based role for much of the time.
It is essential that you are a car driver for this role as you will be expected to drive the service users own car for community based activities.
Ideally you will have experience working with vulnerable people and challenging behaviours. Be happy to commit to a full time role that is usually 7am til 7pm shifts, but on occasions there will be a mid shift of 11-6 or 12-7 to be the second support in the community.
Shift hours may vary slightly depending on the activities booked. The odd waking night shift will also be needed for this role if or when required.
You must be able to work every other weekend.
- Full time 37.5 hours per week
- 7am til 7pm shifts
- Every other weekend work
-Occasional night shift
- Car driver - you will be driving the gentleman's car when going out in the community
- An element of lone working required at the weekends or nights.
- Aiding in all elements of personal care.
- Experience advantageous but not essential.
- Working within a support assistance role based in Wickham.
You must be flexible in your working approach to adapt to the needs of the individuals in your care; be able to assist with meal preparation, daily living tasks, medication assistance and all aspects of personal, social and emotional care. You will have a willing attitude and be able to work as part of a team to encourage and support the service user in your care.
This permanent, full time position is working 37.5 hours per week, to include long days, (7am til 7pm) and every other weekend. There is also the option for overtime should you wish to additional hours.
