We have a GREAT opportunity for a Support Worker to join a MODERN Semi-Independent residential home in Exeter. You'll be supporting young adults between the ages of 16-18 years old with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

We are looking for ADAPTABLE, MOTIVATED, and COMMITTED individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.

No two days are ever the same, so you need to be happy to work in a busy, ever-changing environment. It is challenging, but gratifying work!!

Job Title: Support Worker
Salary: £31,840 - £34,240 (Inclusive of sleeps)
Location: Exeter (EX4)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift pattern: 9am - 10pm - sleep - 7am - 9am)

**Due to the nature of the job we will only accept candidates who hold a Full UK Driving Licence**

Responsibilities:

  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives.
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the young people in the home and, promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.



Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker, or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • You must be able to commute to Exeter.
