We are looking for enthusiastic, resilient and driven individuals to work as mental health support workers within a busy and challenging setting in Southampton. This role will include working with adults and children who suffer from mental health illnesses such as depression, bipolar, eating disorders and anxiety. You will be working alongside a team of specialists and other mental health support workers, supporting one another to ensure the patient’s requirements and needs are met. 

Within this role you may experience high levels of challenging behaviours that some people can find quite distressing. 


Due to this, all staff members are required to have valid restraint training such as MAPA / TMVA / PMVA. If you do not have the required training it is mandatory that you attend our specialist 3 day PMVA training course.


This course usually costs £250 or more. We are able to offer this to you at a highly discounted price of £75 as we will pay the remainder!


The ideal mental health support worker will have some experience working with mental health patients or child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS). This is not mandatory as full training can be provided. 
The service you will be working for is one of the largest mental health facilities in the UK and has been ranked ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the outstanding quality of care they deliver to their patients so you will be in good hands!
The hospital is split into different ward’s, these include an acute ward for adults suffering with mental health and a ward that specialises in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).

Shifts: Night Shifts 20:00-08:00
Pay: £10.42 (hourly) inclusive of holiday entitlement. Bank holidays are paid at time and a half.

About the role

You will provide therapeutic care and support to patients, which includes observing, monitoring, and keeping a record of patient conditions, treating each person with dignity, compassion, and honesty.

Key Requirements:
  • 6 months of experience working in a mental health setting
  • TMVA / PMVA trained (Training can be provided)
  • Right to work in the UK
