Vetro Recruitment are looking for a committed support worker to join a caring support team in the Lordshill area of Southampton. This is to aid with the care of 1 male adult with additional needs.
This role is based on 37.5 hours per week across Monday- Sunday. Rota's are generally based on every other weekend however there is flexibility and over time options if desired. The rota will include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
You will be working on a 221 basis within a supported living unit for an adult with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
You will be/ have:
Your approach will be person-centred with the ability to calmly manage challenging situations, demonstrate empathy with others and adapt easily to change.
Due to the physical and vulnerable nature of the person you will be supporting and the need to support safely, this role can be both physically and emotionally demanding.
Experience of autism, learning disabilities, non-verbal communication and working with challenging behaviours is desirable
A Driving License is essential for this role.
Your duties/ responsibilities:
-To support individuals to exercise and respect their responsibilities and rights as an active and valued member of the community.
-To provide support to enable service users to maximise independence and control of their lives.
-To facilitate social inclusion through access to social, work, learning and leisure opportunities in the community.
-To participate as part of a staff team to achieve agreed goals.
-To plan and implement with the support team, a variety of community experiences for people you support as determined by their Person Centred Plan.
-To set goals, evaluate and report on progress and changing needs relating to people you will be supporting
-Contribute to the development of and adhere to support guidelines and risk management plans in place.
-To take an active part in person centred planning meetings and reviews.
-To respond appropriately to behaviour which may be physically and/or emotionally challenging as informed through received training and as instructed by line manager and relevant guidance documents.
-To work closely with all relevant people in planning, positive behavior support interventions.
-Identify and demonstrate knowledge, practical skills and good judgment in the area of risk taking, and be able to apply the companies positive risk taking policy.
-To be responsible for ensuring all assessed support and care needs of the service user are met.
-To support the manager to meet regulatory compliance and CQC requirements and to ensure that the home remains healthy, clean and hygienic for all concerned.
