An active and interesting support worker job has become available based within Wickham. This is a full time, permanent job working with an adult with learning difficulties within a supported living unit but with a lot of community based work. This job is paying £8.50 / hour. You must be an active individual, comfortable with a role that is varied every day.
You must hold a full driving licence for this role as you may be required on occasions to drive the company car.
We are currently seeking a full time support worker to work within an assisted support role. This is a unique role where you will be supporting a gentleman with learning difficulties; with behaviours that can challenging and sometime unpredictable. The job can be quite physically demanding and is a 2:1 support role whilst he is out in the community and one to one within the supported living unit that he lives in. Although there is home based care involved, the gentleman likes to go for long walks, is quite active and enjoys all outside activities as well as swimming. Therefore it is essential you are happy is a fairly active role and happy doing a varied, community based role for much of the time.
It is essential that you hold a full driving licence for this role as you will be expected to drive the service users own car for community based activities.
Ideally you will have experience working with vulnerable people and challenging behaviours. Be happy to commit to a full time role that require day support times. These are usually between 7am and 7pm, some shifts are 11am til 5pm. You will also be required to work every other weekend. There are no sleep in shifts required.
There may be the occasional waking night cover required but this will not be a regular part of your job.
- Car driver - you will be driving the gentleman's car when going out in the community
- An element of lone working required at the weekends or nights when and if required,
- mainly working on a 2:1 support basis.
- aiding in all elements of personal care.
- Experience advantageous but not essential.
- Working within a support assistance role based in Wickham.
You must be flexible in your working approach to adapt to the needs of the individuals in your care; be able to assist with meal preparation, daily living tasks, medication assistance and all aspects of personal, social and emotional care. restraint training would be advantageous. You will have a willing attitude and be able to work as part of a team to encourage and support the service user in your care in order for him to lead an ordinary life in his local community.
This permanent, full time position is working 37.5 hours per week, to include long days, (7am til 7pm, 9am til 5pm shifts) and every other weekend. There is also the option for overtime should you wish to additional hours. You will be working as part of a team.
