Do you want to make a difference to the lives of adults with Learning Disabilities? We are looking for passionate people to support our client who have homes for adults with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs in the Pontypool and Ebbw Vale areas. Both homes currently support females only although there may be males moving into the service in Pontypool in the near future. You should be comfortable with hoisting and personal care.
Our client are offering full time hours as well as a thorough induction of the services, so if you have not worked in care before, this may be the perfect opportunity to start! They are happy to support with training, including Moving & Handling, Peg Feeding and Epilepsy Awareness, although if you are looking to cover waking nights you will need to hold current PBS training which Vetro can offer at a highly discounted rate.
Not only will you be working in the most rewarding sector there is, but you'll also be in control of when you work and where you work. As well as supporting these homes, you will have the chance to work at a variety of care services across South Wales (Cardiff and the Vale, Torfaen, RCT, Blaenau Gwent, Newport and more). We support residential homes for adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs as well as children's residential homes, transitional services and respite care for 9 - 21 year olds. We've got lots of other support worker jobs with these same clients. Why not take the opportunity to work with these homes on a flexible basis to see where your next permanent opportunity will be?
Shifts for this client vary from mornings, afternoons and sleep-ins to waking nights. You should be flexible around what hours you can work to meet the clients requirement. We do have other services who require various shifts so it is best to get in contact about what you are looking for in particular.
In an ideal world, you will have at least six months experience supporting adults with complex needs. On the other hand, we also love giving people the opportunity to experience a new sector who have supported other client groups but always wanted the chance to support adults with Learning Disabilities!
As a residential support worker, you will earn between £8.80 and £13.33 per hour dependent on what hours you work. You'll be paid on a weekly basis and have the choice of earning holiday pay straight away or accruing your holiday throughout the year. Rates advertised are inclusive of umbrella rates.
If you're ready to apply, perfect! Send your CV to start a quick and easy registration. Not quite ready or have some questions? Feel free to call me on 02921 660880 for a chat about the opportunities available!
