Are you a Support Worker who wants to make a real difference to the lives of Adults with Autism whilst having the flexibility to only work the hours and days you want? If so, we have work for you!
- Location: Highbridge
- Shifts available: a mixture of early shifts, late shifts, long days and waking nights to choose from, with weekdays and weekends both available
- Pay: £8.50 - £10.29 per hour
The organisation is one of the UK’s leading support services for adults with Autism and other complex needs. The service is one of six residential homes set within 26 acres of beautiful grounds and accommodates four male service users. Individuals also have access to a day centre within the grounds.
The service allows adults with Autism to enjoy the independence of their own room and use of the communal house for meals and activities including music and art projects. During leisure times, the individuals regularly visit the local cinema, swimming pool, shops and the beach. The service also organises regular excursions to the larger towns of Taunton and Weston-Super-Mare to encourage independence and interaction with the local community. The day centre also offers service users the opportunity to do activities such as woodwork, gardening and arts and crafts.
Adults within the service often have difficulties with communication and in some cases are non-verbal. Some may also have mobility issues or physical impairments, so experience in a similar setting would be preferred but not mandatory, and there may be some levels of personal care involved.
As a Support Worker you will be responsible for the following;
- Giving individuals the chance to lead a full life instead of isolation or family dependence.
- Giving people with autism the confidence and skills to live well, enjoy activities that others take for granted.

- Assisting people who use the service to get involved in a range of new opportunities, experiences and activities.
- Varying levels of support required with personal care.
- Supporting in situations with taxing behaviours in a safe and sympathetic way.
- Minimum 6 Months paid experience supporting adults with Autism or Learning Disabilities.
