The opportunity:

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of young people with autism? We are looking for passionate people to support 16 to 25 year olds with autism in a totally unique and sustainable setting on a flexible agency basis. Founded over thirty years ago in the beautiful Horsley Valley, our client has since grown to encompass two historical wool mills, acres of hillside woodlands, a farm, where students grow and sell biodynamic livestock and produce, and the world's only biodynamic fish farm. The setting's craft curriculum stems from the cultural history of the area, with such sessions as weaving and felting, green woodwork, animal husbandry, and metalwork in the Iron Age Forge.

You will be generally working on a 1:1 basis with a student at the College accompanying them through their timetable for the day. You could be supporting them with any of the activities mentioned above or maybe even popping to the Cafe on sight with them while they work their for the day. Every day will be different for you if you decide this is the opportunity for you!

Your experience:

In an ideal world, you will have at least six months experience supporting children and young people with complex needs or emotional behavioural difficulties. On the other hand, we also love giving people the opportunity to experience a new sector who have supported other client groups such as vulnerable adults or those with mental health needs but always wanted the chance to support young people! The one thing you do need? A full UK driving licence (and a great attitude!
