The opportunity:

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of children and young people? We are looking for passionate people to work with a leaving-care service for young people with emotional behavioural difficulties and challenging behaviours. The majority of the young people the client support are between 16 and 18 years old, although the client is able to support up to the age of 25. The young people may have been through trauma, neglect, child sexual exploitation and some may have self-harming tendencies. You must be comfortable with lone working, as although you will be part of a team of support workers, some young people are on a 1:1 support basis and some 2:1.

As a support worker, not only will you be a positive role model for the young people you support, you will work alongside them to prepare them for the next chapter of their lives, focusing on:

  • Managing relationships
  • Challenging anti-social behaviours
  • Home skills such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting
  • Accessing or managing education or work opportunities
  • Self-care skills

If you are looking for a permanent role, you will have an exciting opportunity to work towards your Level 3 qualification as well as having access to other training opportunities to support you in your role. If successful, you will have a 2 week induction to make sure you're fully prepared for your exciting new role!

If you are looking to work with the client on a flexible agency basis, we will support you through training and you will still get to meet the client before you start work to get a real sense of the company you will be working for and ask any questions you may have.

Your experience:

In an ideal world, you will have at least six months experience supporting children and young people with complex needs or emotional behavioural difficulties. On the other hand, we also love giving people the opportunity to experience a new sector who have supported other client groups such as vulnerable adults or those with mental health needs but always wanted the chance to support young people! The one thing you do need? A full UK driving licence (and a great attitude!)

To apply:

If you're ready to apply, perfect! Send your CV to to start a quick and easy registration to be put forward for the role. Not quite ready or have some questions? Feel free to call me on 02921 660880 for a chat about the opportunities available!
