Job Description
Adult Learning Disability Support Worker needed in Treharris, Caerphilly to support adults to live safer, more independent, and fulfilling lives. This is an on-site, person-centred support role within a specialist service, working alongside experienced colleagues to deliver consistent, therapeutic care.
You’ll help individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs (which may include autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, or sensory impairments) to achieve positive outcomes through structured daily support, clear communication, and respectful boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
As a Adult Learning Disability Support Worker based in Treharris, your daily duties will include:
- Providing person-centred care and therapeutic support, promoting independence, choice, and dignity at all times
- Observing, monitoring, and recording individuals’ wellbeing and progress, sharing updates with the wider team to ensure safe, consistent care
- Supporting people with daily living tasks and personal care in line with individual support plans, risk assessments, and preferred routines
- Encouraging community access and social inclusion, helping service users build skills and confidence in everyday activities
- Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to a positive, structured environment and safeguarding-first culture
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Adult Learning Disability Support Worker, you will need:
- Minimum 6 months’ experience in a social care setting (learning disability experience is highly beneficial)
- Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain/maintain one, including update service where applicable)
- Right to work in the UK
- Empathy, resilience, and a calm approach when supporting people with complex needs
- NVQ Level 3 or Level 5 in Health and Social Care (desirable) and a full UK manual driving licence (desirable, depending on service needs)
