Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young learners with additional learning needs (ALN)? A leading specialist provider of educational support is seeking a dedicated ALN Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Merthyr Tydfil. This full-time, long-term role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with educators and contribute to an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored support to children with additional learning needs within the foundation phase
  • Assisting the Class Teacher in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons that meet individual student requirements
  • Supporting the implementation of personalised learning plans and interventions
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement
  • Supervising and aiding students during classroom activities, lunch breaks, and outdoor play
  • Monitoring and recording student progress to inform ongoing support strategies
  • Encouraging independence and confidence among students through empathetic and patient support

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with ALN or in similar educational support roles
  • Strong understanding of the foundation phase curriculum and SEN/ALN requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies
  • Proactive, nurturing, and adaptable approach to diverse classroom needs
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one prior to starting
