Job Description:
A leading specialist provider is seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager to join their residential children’s services team in Wrexham. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Service Manager in delivering high-quality care and ensuring statutory compliance within a dynamic and supportive environment. The Assistant Manager will play a vital role in managing the day-to-day operations of the home, supervising staff, and maintaining excellent relationships with external agencies, all while promoting the organisation’s values and therapeutic ethos.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing all statutory compliance matters for the home, ensuring regulations are met.
- Support the management of children’s admission, discharge, and care planning processes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with families, social workers, and other professionals involved in the children’s care.
- Act as designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Lead and support staff through supervision, performance management, and training initiatives.
- Oversee resource management, including staff recruitment, deployment, and budget control.
- Ensure the home remains a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment.
- Monitor and support staff performance, attendance, and well-being.
- Assist with implementing and reviewing individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Support the Service Manager in maintaining accurate records and management information systems.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years’ successful experience working in Residential Children’s Services.
- Proven middle management experience in a care setting.
- Hold a valid UK driving licence.
- Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Maths/Numeracy and English/Literacy.
- One of the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People), or
- NVQ 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services, or
- NVQ 4 Management (assessed in a care setting), or
- NVQ 4 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People), or
- NVQ 4 Care.
- Proficiency in therapeutic support techniques, including physical intervention (training provided).
