Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Care Manager to join our children’s home in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. This role offers a flexible working pattern, primarily Monday to Friday, supporting up to four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a nurturing, semi-rural environment. Key Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Care Manager based in Abergavenny, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting the registered manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring compliance with all regulations and organisational policies.
- Deputising in the manager’s absence and providing leadership to staff members.
- Supporting and nurturing young people, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Promoting a positive, supportive environment that encourages young people’s growth and resilience.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Deputy Care Manager, you will need:
- Essential QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Shift Leader within a residential setting.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Minimum age of 22.
- Passion for making a difference in young people’s lives.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Basic IT skills and flexibility in working hours.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements, health and safety, and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care is desirable.
- Welsh language skills and Level 4 qualification in Health & Social Care are advantageous.
