Job Description
Children’s Home Manager opportunities are available in Barnstaple, Devon, supporting a residential children’s home where safety, stability, and positive outcomes come first. This role leads a dedicated team to deliver consistent, trauma-informed care and help children build confidence, routines, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
As a Children’s Home Manager based in Barnstaple, your daily duties will include:
- Leading recruitment, supervision, team meetings, and supporting readiness for inspections to maintain high standards of care.
- Working with staff to plan meaningful activities and community engagement that improve children’s wellbeing and quality of life in Barnstaple.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure robust care plans, safeguarding practices, and risk assessments are in place and followed.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Children’s Home Manager, you will need:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (ideal) or a commitment to work towards it.
- Proven experience managing or supervising within a children’s residential care setting.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to participate in an on-call rota.
- Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by the employer).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus resilience, patience, and compassion.
