Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Children's Home Registered Manager to lead a residential care service in Reading, Berkshire. This vital role involves delivering high-quality care to children and young people, ensuring compliance with legislation, and fostering a positive, nurturing environment. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, staff management, and strategic development within the home, supporting the well-being and outcomes of young residents.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Children's Home Registered Manager based in Reading, your daily duties will include:

  • Managing the residential home to ensure efficient operation in line with relevant legislation, policies, and the Statement of Purpose.
  • Providing strong leadership and motivating staff to deliver exceptional care and support to children and young people.
  • Developing and implementing care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
  • Overseeing staff recruitment, supervision, training, and performance appraisals to maintain a high standard of childcare.
  • Managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure value for money and operational efficiency.
  • Building effective relationships with external agencies, families, and regulatory bodies to support the children’s needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and promoting a safe, inclusive environment for all residents and staff.

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Children's Home Registered Manager, you will need:

  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) or equivalent.
  • Significant experience working in a residential setting with challenging behaviour or vulnerable young people.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing teams and resources effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Ofsted standards.
  • Strong organisational skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to motivate staff.
  • Mandatory compliance with safeguarding training and an enhanced DBS check.
