Job Description:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Children’s Support Worker to join a modern residential children’s home in Bodmin. As a Children’s Support Worker in Bodmin, you will support young people aged 8–16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours. This Children’s Support Worker role in Bodmin is busy, varied, and genuinely rewarding—helping young people feel safe, cared for, and supported to develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Encourage young people to take responsibility for their own lives, appropriate to their age
- Maintain a homely, friendly culture and environment within the home
- Support and manage challenging behaviours safely, calmly, and sympathetically
- Protect children and young people by promoting their health, welfare, and safety
- Provide day-to-day support to promote independence and wellbeing
- Maintain a safe environment and follow care plan guidelines, reward systems, and communication preferences
- Build effective working relationships with staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals (e.g., Psychologists)
Requirements:
- Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or with young people is desirable (not essential)
- Experience in another healthcare or social care setting is desirable (not essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence (you will be required to transport young people from time to time)
- Must be over the age of 21
- Ability to commute to Bodmin
- Resilient, motivated approach and a genuine desire to make a difference as a Children’s Support Worker in Bodmin
