Job Description:
We have a brilliant opportunity for a Children’s Support Worker to join a fantastic 3-bed residential children’s home in Gloucester. As a Children’s Support Worker in Gloucester, you will support young people aged 5–18 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours, helping them develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a safe, caring environment.
This Children’s Support Worker role in Gloucester is fast-paced and varied—no two days are the same—so you’ll need to be confident, resilient and committed to making a real difference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Encourage young people to take part in activities and build responsibility for their own lives (in line with age and needs)
- Maintain a homely, friendly culture and environment within the residential home
- Deal with challenging behaviours safely, sympathetically and in line with care plans
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Provide support in the home and promote independence and wellbeing
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure the safety of young people at all times
- Keep up-to-date with individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems and preferred communication methods
- Support and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals (e.g., Psychologists)
Requirements:
- Full UK Driving Licence (required to transport young people from time to time)
- Must be over the age of 22
- Ability to commute to Gloucester
- Experience as a Children’s Support Worker, or with young people, is desirable but not essential
- Experience in another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential
- Passion for supporting young people and working in a residential setting with EBD and challenging behaviours
