We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children's Residential Support Worker to provide high-quality care and support to children in a residential setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing environment, assisting with daily activities, and supporting emotional and behavioural development. Location: Bridgwater, Somerset
Shift Pattern: Long day shift and sleep-ins required
Salary: £30,273.70 to £34,275 inclusive of sleep in's
Responsibilities
- Provide personalised care tailored to each child's individual needs, including assistance with daily routines and activities.
- Support children with behavioural management strategies to promote positive development and emotional well-being.
- Assist with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met and dietary restrictions are observed.
- Administer medication following prescribed care plans and maintain accurate records of medication administration.
- Engage children in educational, recreational, and social activities to promote growth and development.
- Monitor and document behavioural progress, reporting any concerns to senior staff or case managers promptly.
- Support children during outings or community activities, ensuring their safety at all times, including driving when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised care plans.
- Respond effectively to emergencies or challenging situations using first aid skills when required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in care settings such as nursing homes, care homes, assisted living, or home care is desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, or senior care is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications, including first aid training, are preferred.
- Experience with medication administration and understanding of medical terminology is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children and their families.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and work flexibly across shifts as required.
- A driving licence is essential for supporting outings or appointments.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent organisational skills in managing care plans and case management duties.
