Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a leading children’s care provider in Exeter. This role involves supporting children within a specialised residential setting, ensuring their safety, development, and well-being are prioritised. The successful candidate will work as part of a committed team to deliver personalised care and support to children with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Support Worker based in Exeter, your daily duties will include:
- Planning and supporting children’s weekly activities, ensuring their voices are heard and their safety is maintained.
- Following individualised Placement Plans and supporting children’s attendance at education.
- Acting professionally at all times, adhering to policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Maintaining accurate daily records, including journals, handovers, medication logs, and incident reports.
- Ensuring communal areas are clean, safe, and welcoming, and supporting children’s personal development and life skills.
- Responding appropriately to emergencies and supporting children during outdoor activities and behavioural interventions.
- Promoting positive relationships with children, their families, and the wider community.
- Raising concerns or issues directly with senior management and participating in training and team meetings.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working in a similar residential or childcare setting.
- Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to supporting children.
