Job Description
Residential Support Worker roles are available in Bewdley, Worcestershire, supporting children and young people in a nurturing residential setting. Based in Bewdley, you’ll help create a safe, stable and empowering home environment for children who may have experienced trauma, loss or instability. This is a demanding but highly rewarding opportunity within a values-led, safeguarding-focused team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Residential Support Worker based in Bewdley, your daily duties will include:
- Providing day-to-day care and emotional support, helping children feel safe, valued and understood.
- Supporting education and learning routines at home and alongside schools, encouraging positive engagement.
- Promoting independence and life skills through consistent routines, guidance and encouragement.
- Responding to challenging behaviours calmly using therapeutic, trauma-informed approaches (training provided).
- Working a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins to ensure consistent care.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care plans in line with statutory requirements and regulations.
- Building professional relationships with families, social workers, schools and other agencies.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) and a good standard of education.
- Willingness to undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A strong commitment to safeguarding (appointment subject to Enhanced DBS and references).
