Job Description
A leading children’s residential care provider is seeking a Residential Support Worker to join a supportive team in Exmouth, Devon. This role focuses on helping children feel safe, heard, and empowered, while delivering a bespoke package of care that supports positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Residential Support Worker based in Exmouth, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting children’s weekly routines and activities, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and involved in decisions where appropriate.
- Following each child’s Placement Plan and promoting consistent attendance and engagement in education.
- Maintaining accurate daily records and completing key admin tasks such as daily journals, handovers, medication documentation, and telephone enquiries.
- Working in line with policies, procedures, and risk assessments, including responding appropriately to emergencies.
- Providing a safe, warm, and supportive environment that meets children’s physical, emotional, educational, recreational, and social needs.
- Promoting positive communication and using agreed communication strategies so every child has a voice.
- Supporting children to build independence and life skills (including personal space and bedroom routines).
- Managing challenging behaviour safely, following individual PBS plans, using de-escalation, and completing incident/accident documentation as required.
- Supporting a clean, safe home environment and adhering to Health & Safety and fire safety procedures (including drills).
- Participating in training, meetings, rota working (including sleep-ins and lone working), and raising concerns appropriately with management.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- Experience supporting children or young people in a residential or similar care setting (essential).
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to promoting children’s welfare (essential).
- Willingness to complete all required training and follow policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards.
- Flexibility to work a rolling rota, including sleep-in duties and lone working.
- Ability to support transport needs when required.

Requirements & Qualifications
