Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Salary: £25,397 - £30,000 per annum (plus additional sleep-in payments)

Job Description:
A Residential Support Worker role is available in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, supporting children and young people in a nurturing, trauma-informed residential setting. You’ll help create a safe, stable home environment where children can build trust, develop independence, and thrive as part of a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Support Worker based in Tewkesbury, your daily duties will include:
- Providing day-to-day care and emotional support, helping children feel safe, valued and understood
- Supporting education and positive routines, including learning at home and engagement with school
- Promoting independence and life skills through consistent, child-centred guidance
- Responding calmly to challenging behaviour using therapeutic approaches and de-escalation techniques
- Working a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins to ensure consistent care in Tewkesbury
- Building professional relationships with families, schools, social workers and external agencies
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care plans in line with statutory requirements and children’s home regulations
- Using safe physical intervention only when necessary to prevent harm (full training provided)
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) and a good standard of education
- Willingness to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held)
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A strong commitment to safeguarding (appointment subject to Enhanced DBS and satisfactory references)
- Desirable: experience in residential childcare, social care, fostering, or youth work
