Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join a reputable organisation based in Torrington, Devon. This role involves providing high-quality care within a residential setting for children and young people, ensuring a safe, caring, and supportive environment that promotes their development and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Support Worker in Torrington, your daily duties will include:
- Creating and maintaining a safe, caring environment for children and young people in the home.
- Logging and reporting all accidents, incidents, and physical interventions, while challenging any suspected inappropriate practice.
- Promoting safeguarding and protecting the welfare of each child, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people to foster their sense of security.
- Supporting healthcare needs, including making appointments, accompanying children, and completing relevant reports.
- Assisting with daily domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a tidy home environment.
- Encouraging children’s educational and social development, supporting their full personal potential.
- Participating in planning and preparing children for admission or discharge, ensuring care plans are followed and reviewed.
- Collaborating with professionals, families, and carers to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
- Undertaking sleep-in duties and administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Ensuring the security of the home by managing keys and maintaining safety protocols.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Support Worker, you will need:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent.
- Experience working in a similar residential or childcare setting.
- Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to supporting children and young people.
