We are seeking a dedicated Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team in Barnstaple, North Devon. Key Responsibilities:
As a Children's Residential Support Worker in Barnstaple, your daily duties will include:
- Providing a safe, caring, and well-ordered environment for children and young people.
- Promoting safeguarding and protection, ensuring the welfare of all residents.
- Building positive relationships and maintaining boundaries to foster trust and security.
- Supporting healthcare needs, including attending appointments and administering clinical procedures (training provided).
- Collaborating with multi-agency teams such as social workers, health professionals, and local authorities.
- Encouraging children’s social networks, education, and personal development.
- Assisting with care planning, admissions, and discharge processes.
- Managing domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining the home environment.
- Organising and participating in activities and outings within North Devon, including trips to Exmoor and coastal towns.
- Contributing to teamwork, staff meetings, and supporting less experienced colleagues.
- Handling administrative tasks, including maintaining child files and petty cash.
- Ensuring health and safety compliance and participating in shift patterns, including sleep-in duties.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working in a residential childcare setting or similar environment.
- Mandatory compliance with Enhanced DBS checks and a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
