Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Childcare Support Worker to join a caring team in Minehead, Somerset. This role involves providing high-quality, individualised care within a safe and nurturing environment, supporting children and young people to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Childcare Support Worker based in Minehead, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting all aspects of running the home to maintain a safe, well-ordered environment for children.
- Actively safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, including digital safety and behaviour management.
- Organising and participating in local activities, outings, and holidays around Minehead and the surrounding areas such as Exmoor National Park and Minehead Beach.
- Ensuring medical and clinical needs are met by scheduling appointments and accompanying children to local healthcare providers.
- Encouraging children’s educational and personal development by liaising with local schools and training providers.
- Assisting in care planning, admissions, discharges, and working collaboratively with external agencies and families.
- Performing domestic duties such as meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining home security.
- Participating in shift work, including long days, short days, sleep-ins, and covering weekends and bank holidays.
- Attending team meetings, supervision, and mentoring new staff members.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will need:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working in a similar residential or childcare setting.
- Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a Full UK Driving Licence.
