Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a caring team in Bewdley, Worcestershire. This role offers the opportunity to work within a warm, rural environment that provides a safe and nurturing home for children who have experienced trauma or instability. The successful candidate will play a vital part in creating a therapeutic, trauma-informed setting where children are supported to heal, grow, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Support Worker based in Bewdley, your daily duties will include:
- Providing day-to-day care and emotional support to children, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and understood.
- Supporting children in their education and development of independence and life skills.
- Responding to challenging behaviours with resilience, calmness, and therapeutic approaches.
- Working within a rota system, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins, to ensure children always have trusted adults available.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care plans in line with statutory requirements.
- Developing strong, professional relationships with families, social workers, and other agencies to support the child's wellbeing.
- Promoting a homely, safe, and positive environment that reflects the organisation’s values.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- Good standard of education (GCSE or equivalent).
- Willingness to undertake Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held).
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in residential childcare or social care.
- Relevant qualifications in social care or child development.
