Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a caring team in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. This role involves providing compassionate care and support to children in a therapeutic environment, helping them to thrive and develop in a safe, nurturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Support Worker based in Tewkesbury, your daily duties will include:
- Providing day-to-day care and emotional support to children, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and understood.
- Supporting children in their education and life skills development, promoting independence and responsibility.
- Responding to challenging behaviours with resilience and therapeutic approaches, including safe physical intervention when necessary.
- Working within a rota system, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins, to ensure children always have trusted adults available.
- Developing strong relationships with families, social workers, and other professionals to support each child's care plan.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care planning in line with statutory requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- A good standard of education (GCSE or equivalent).
- Willingness to undertake a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held).
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in residential childcare or social care.
- Relevant qualifications in social care or child development.
