Job Description:
A leading specialist provider is offering a great opportunity for a Support Worker to join a modern semi-independent residential home in Exeter. The Support Worker role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives. Based in Exeter, the Support Worker will support young people aged 8 to 16 years with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours, providing a safe and caring environment where they can develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally. This role is perfect for adaptable, motivated, and committed individuals eager to contribute to the well-being and independence of young people in a dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Support Worker, your key duties will include:
- Encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives
- Maintaining a homely, friendly environment within the residential home
- Managing challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically
- Protecting young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Supporting young people to develop independence and well-being
- Ensuring a safe environment and up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and communication preferences
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's care
Requirements:
- Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or with young people is desirable but not essential
- Experience within healthcare or social care settings is advantageous but not mandatory
- Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence, as transportation of young people may be required
- Must be over the age of 21 and able to commute to Exeter
