We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a leading children’s home in Crediton, Devon. This role involves providing vital support and guidance to young boys, helping them develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes within a nurturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with children, staff, and management to ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Support Worker based in Crediton, your daily duties will include:
- Planning and supporting children’s weekly activities, ensuring their voices are heard and their safety is prioritised.
- Following individualised Placement Plans and supporting children’s attendance at education.
- Maintaining high standards of safety, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Recording daily activities, managing medication, and completing administrative tasks such as journals and handovers.
- Promoting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the home.
- Supporting children’s emotional, social, and educational development through positive communication and behaviour management.
- Accompanying children on outdoor activities and encouraging their independence and life skills.
- Responding appropriately to behavioural challenges, following de-escalation plans and recording incidents accurately.
- Raising concerns with senior management and participating in team meetings and training sessions.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people in a residential or similar setting.
- Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS check and a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work under pressure.
