Salary: £14.24 - £28.48 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Job Description:
We are seeking dedicated Young Persons Support Workers to join our team in Merthyr. This role involves working closely with young people facing challenges such as homelessness, substance misuse, mental health issues, and trauma. You will be part of a supportive environment committed to making a positive difference in young people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Young Persons Support Worker based in Merthyr, your daily duties will include:

  • Supporting young people in their day-to-day activities and interests, promoting independence and wellbeing.
  • Attending and assisting with weekend trips, holidays, and activities such as climbing, baking, or outings to places like Butlins.
  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of young people by adhering to care plans and guidelines.
  • Providing emotional and practical support to help young people overcome challenges and minimise incidents of challenging behaviour.
  • Promoting a safe environment by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and safety procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Young Persons Support Worker, you will need:

  • A genuine desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature.
  • At least 6 months' experience working with children or within a similar social care setting.
  • Restraint training certification (TMVA) or willingness to undergo a 3-day restraint training course.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • The right to work in the UK.
