Job Title: Support Worker (Children's Support Worker)
Location: Porthcawl, Wales, UK
Salary: £14.24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay) and £76 per sleep-in shift

Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives? Our client is seeking compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Relief/Temporary Support Workers to join their team in the Porthcawl area. This role offers flexible working hours, allowing you to choose shifts that fit your schedule, making it ideal for students, parents, or those with other commitments. As a Children's Support Worker, you will support children and young people in their daily activities, promoting independence and wellbeing while providing emotional and practical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people in all daily activities and interests
  • Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
  • Support and participate in weekend and evening activities, from climbing to baking or weekends at Butlins
  • Promote the young persons' independence and wellbeing
  • Protect children and young people from health and welfare risks
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
  • Support children in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents
  • Attend training courses, including restraint training if not already qualified

Requirements:

  • Relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with young people
  • Understanding of trauma, homelessness, domestic abuse, and their impacts
  • Crisis response skills and a forward-thinking attitude
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a social care setting
  • TMVA restraint training certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
