Key Responsibilities:
As a Children's Support Worker based in Porthcawl, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting children and young people with their daily activities and interests, promoting independence and wellbeing.
- Attending weekends away, holidays, and trips to ensure engaging and safe experiences.
- Supporting children during weekend and evening activities, such as climbing, baking, or trips to leisure destinations like Butlins.
- Protecting children from risks to their health and welfare by following care plans and safety guidelines.
- Providing emotional and practical support to young people within your care.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and safeguarding procedures.
- Assisting in managing challenging behaviour and minimising incidents through positive intervention strategies.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Children's Support Worker, you will need:
- A minimum of 6 months' experience working with children or within a social care setting.
- Restraint training or willingness to undergo TMVA restraint training.
- A valid UK Driving Licence.
- An Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
- An empathetic, caring, and resilient nature with strong relationship-building skills.
- Understanding of trauma, homelessness, domestic abuse, and crisis response.
