Residential Child Care Workers | Skelmersdale

Make a real difference in a 1:1 environment.

Are you looking for a role where you can truly focus on the progress of one young person? We are opening a solo residential home in Skelmersdale and are looking for dedicated, empathetic, and resilient Support Workers to join our founding team.

In this unique setting, you will work in a 2:1 staff-to-child ratio, ensuring the highest level of support, safety, and therapeutic care.

The Shift Pattern

We understand the importance of work-life balance. This role follows a "2 on, 4 off" rolling roster.

  • Work: 2 consecutive days (including sleep-ins).

  • Rest: 4 consecutive days off.

  • This pattern allows you to decompress fully and provides a consistent environment for the young person.

Competitive Pay Structure

  • Unqualified RSW: £13.00 per hour

  • Qualified RSW (Level 3/4): £14.00 per hour

  • Senior RSW: £15.00 per hour

  • Sleep-in Allowance: £70.00 per night

Employee Benefits

We value our staff and provide a comprehensive support package:

  • Nest Pension Scheme: Planning for your future.

  • Bright Exchange: Access to an exclusive online marketplace with discounts on a huge range of products and services.

  • Bright EAP (Employee Assistance Programme): Your wellbeing matters. Access confidential support for mental health, grief, financial advice, and overall physical wellbeing.

What We Are Looking For

  • Passion: A genuine desire to improve the lives of children who have faced early-life trauma.

  • Resilience: The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

  • Teamwork: While it’s a solo home for the child, you will work closely with your shift partner to create a family-like atmosphere.

  • Experience: Previous experience in residential childcare is preferred, but we offer a path for Unqualified RSWs who have the right heart and attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating a safe, warm, and nurturing "home" environment.

  • Supporting the young person with daily routines, education, and hobbies.

  • Maintaining detailed logs and reports regarding the young person's progress.

  • Managing challenging behavior with a therapeutic, non-judgmental approach.

Ready to join us? If you want to be part of a team that puts the child at the center of everything, we would love to hear from you.
