Salary: £14.25 - £28.48 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Job Description

Children’s Support Worker opportunities are available within children’s residential services in Cwmbran, Torfaen. You’ll support children and young people who have been taken into care, working closely with colleagues in a 2:1 staffing model to provide safe, consistent, and nurturing care.

Shifts include 08:00–23:00 and 22:45–08:15 (waking nights), depending on service needs.


Key Responsibilities

As a Children’s Support Worker based in Cwmbran, your daily duties will include:

  • Supporting children and young people with day-to-day routines, activities, and interests to promote independence and wellbeing
  • Providing emotional and practical support within the home, following care plans and safeguarding guidance
  • Managing and helping to reduce incidents of challenging behaviour, including using approved physical intervention approaches where required
  • Attending evenings, weekends, trips, and holidays to support engagement and positive experiences
  • Maintaining a safe environment by identifying risks and acting in line with policies and procedures

Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful as a Children’s Support Worker, you will need:

  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a similar social care setting
  • TMVA / restraint training certificate (or willingness to complete a 3-day course)
  • Valid UK Driving Licence (mandatory)
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
