Salary: £14.24 - £28.48 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Employment Type: Temporary, with option for Temp to Perm

Job Description:

Our client, a leading provider of residential care services, is seeking dedicated Children's Support Workers to join their team in Abertillery. Key Responsibilities:
As a Children's Support Worker based in Abertillery, your daily duties will include:

• Supporting children and young people in all aspects of their daily activities and interests.
• Promoting independence and wellbeing through personalised care plans.
• Attending weekends away, holidays, and trips to support the children’s social and emotional development.
• Participating in weekend and evening activities, ranging from outdoor adventures to creative pursuits like baking or arts and crafts.
• Ensuring the safety and welfare of children by adhering to care plans and safeguarding guidelines.
• Providing emotional and practical support to help children overcome challenges and develop resilience.
• Supporting behaviour management strategies and helping to minimise incidents of challenging behaviour.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and health and safety procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Children's Support Worker, you will need:

• A genuine desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
• Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature.
• At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a similar social care setting.
• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undergo a 3-day restraint training course).
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
• The right to work in the UK.

What you’ll be doing as a Childrens Worker:

• To support the children and young people in all day to day activities and interests

• Restraint Trained, or be willing to undergo the 3 day course. 

• To promote the young persons independence and wellbeing

• To attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the Children

• To attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests. This can range from climbing and baking cakes to weekends away in Butlins.

• To protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare

• To provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.

• To ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines

• To support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.

What you’ll need to have to be a successful Childrens Support Worker

• A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people

• Empathetic, caring and resilient nature

• At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar Social Care setting

• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate

• Valid UK Driving Licence
