Job Description
We are recruiting a Children Support Worker to join a supportive, hands-on team in Merthyr Tydfil, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to young people in a residential setting, supporting routines, wellbeing, and positive outcomes. The home can be challenging at times, so we’re looking for someone calm, resilient, and genuinely motivated to help others.

You’ll be working long days and long-day sleeps, supporting young people through structured daily living, engagement, and consistent boundaries—while helping create a safe, stable environment.

Key Responsibilities
As a Children Support Worker based in Merthyr Tydfil, your daily duties will include:

• Supporting young people with daily routines, personal care (where required), and independent living skills
• Building positive, professional relationships and promoting emotional regulation and resilience
• Supporting and supervising activities that encourage education, social development, and wellbeing
• Recording clear notes and contributing to care planning, risk management, and safeguarding processes
• Working confidently on long days and sleep-ins, responding appropriately to challenging situations

Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Children Support Worker, you will need:

• Experience supporting children/young people in a residential or similar care setting
• Resilience and confidence managing behaviours that can be challenging, using a calm approach
• Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one)
• Reliability to commit to rotas including long days and sleep-ins
