Deputy Manager: Children’s Therapeutic Home

Job Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and resilient Deputy Manager to join our award-winning therapeutic community, known for providing 'Good' or 'Outstanding' rated residential services. This is a crucial, high-impact leadership role within one of our established Children’s Homes in East Kent.
This role is ideal for an experienced Deputy Manager or a Senior Shift Leader with aspirations to progress their career within a company committed to staff development.

Starting Salary: £43,678 per annum (inclusive of two weekly sleep-ins and yearly on-call payment).

Note on Pay: Salary includes two sleep-in shifts per week (paid at £60 each) and a yearly on-call payment of £1,500.
Contract: Permanent, full-time position (minimum 37.5 hours per week, including 2 sleep-ins).
Performance Bonus: £1,000 Bonus for achieving an Outstanding Ofsted rating.
Travel: Travel allowance of up to £40 per week.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the efficient co-management of the home. This role is physically and mentally demanding, yet highly rewarding.
Management Oversight: In the Registered Manager's absence, assume day-to-day managerial oversight, ensuring compliance with the Statement of Purpose and all managerial duties.
Quality & Compliance: Implement and adhere to the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Care Standards, and SCCIF Guidelines. Promptly address any recommendations following an Ofsted inspection.
Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership to the staff team, directing them in delivering person-centred care to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
Staff Development: Support the Manager in staff performance by conducting regular supervisions and participating in the annual appraisal process.
Safeguarding: Ensure full adherence to Safeguarding Policy and Local Authority procedures, promptly notifying all significant events, incidents, and interventions.
Care Planning: Oversee the development of young people's placement, and formulate/update placement plans, risk assessments, and positive handling plans.
On-Call: Participate effectively in the on-call duty system.
Essential Requirements
Experience: Experience working as a senior member of staff within a children’s residential care setting.
Leadership: Proven ability to effectively lead staff teams.
Knowledge: Strong knowledge and understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations and Child Protection & Safeguarding legislations.
Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Service or equivalent.
Age: Must be 21 years of age or over due to company policies.
Driving: Must be able to drive and hold a current, full driving licence.
Qualities: Resilient, enthusiastic, motivated, calm, adaptable, non-judgemental, and possessing excellent organisational skills.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in a Deputy Manager role or as a Senior Shift Leader.
Understanding and knowledge of a Therapeutic Approach to Childcare.
NVQ or Diploma Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Residential Children’s Services or equivalent.
