Job Title: Registered Manager – Children's Residential Care Home in Wem, Shropshire
Location: Wem, Shropshire, UK
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum + £5,000 annual bonus
Job Description:
Are you a passionate leader with experience in children’s residential care? An established specialist provider is seeking a dedicated and proactive Registered Manager to lead a new children’s residential home in Wem, Shropshire. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people while progressing your career in children’s care management.
As the Registered Manager in Wem, Shropshire, you will:
- Develop and oversee tailored Care Plans for each young person, ensuring their educational, emotional, social, and health needs are met effectively
- Build and lead a strong team to support the children, supporting recruitment efforts and conducting ongoing team development
- Foster consultation opportunities to involve young people in their care decisions, promoting their voice and choices
- Assign Key Workers to implement individualised care plans and support individual development
- Maintain high standards of care, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Handle and resolve complaints and child protection concerns promptly and professionally
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external professionals to promote the welfare of children in your care
- Participate in care planning and review meetings to continuously improve service delivery
- Promote a safe, nurturing culture that prioritises the wellbeing of the children
Essential requirements and experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role
- Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care (essential)
- Knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and relevant legislation
- Strong leadership, planning, and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Understanding of trauma, and the needs of children with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties
- Full UK driving licence
