An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a leading specialist provider of children’s care services in Shrewsbury.

This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic, resilient, and driven to empower children and young people aged 8-18 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). If you enjoy engaging activities, building strong relationships, and supporting young people in a safe, nurturing setting, this could be your perfect career move!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage and motivate young people to participate in activities and develop life skills according to their age and abilities
  • Maintain a homely, friendly, and caring environment within the residential setting
  • Support and manage challenging behaviours with patience and professionalism
  • Safeguard children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • Provide personalized support to promote independence, well-being, and positive development
  • Ensure the safety of all residents and maintain comprehensive knowledge of individual care plans, guidelines, and reward systems
  • Support positive behaviour management strategies empathetically and effectively
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people’s lives

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience as a Children’s Support Worker or within a similar social care setting is desirable but not essential
  • Must hold a full UK driving license and have access to a car, as transportation may be required
  • Applicants should be over 21 years of age
  • An empathetic, approachable personality with strong listening and communication skills
  • Passionate about helping young people and making a lasting difference in their lives
