We are seeking a caring and resilient Children's Residential Support Worker to join a friendly and well-established residential service in Shrewsbury. This role involves supporting young people aged 14-17 who experience Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours. Job Title: Children's Residential Support Worker
Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire, UK
Salary: £30,060 to £34,488 (sleep allowance included)
Long day shifts and sleep-ins required
What you’ll be doing:
- Encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, tailored to their age
- Providing support to promote independence and well-being within a therapeutic and nurturing environment
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of young people by adhering to care plans, guidelines, and communication strategies
- Supporting challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically, maintaining a positive and safe environment
- Developing strong working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's care
- Protecting children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Maintaining a warm, homely, and friendly environment within the home
What we’re looking for:
- Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or in social care with young people (desirable)
- A valid driving license is ESSENTIAL, as transportation of young people may be required
- Age 22 or over is ESSENTIAL
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People (desirable)
- Enthusiastic, resilient, and committed to enriching the lives of young people
- Ability to engage, encourage, and mentor young people effectively
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach
- Flexibility to work long day shifts and sleep-in duties
