Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children's Support Worker to join a nurturing residential children’s home in Erdington. This role offers a rewarding chance to make a positive impact on the lives of young people aged 8-18 with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. The Children's Support Worker will support young people to develop independence, participate in activities, and feel safe and cared for in a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, appropriate to their age.
- Maintain a homely, friendly environment within the residential home.
- Deal with challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically.
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Support the well-being and independence of young people in the home.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to care plans, guidelines, and reward systems.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.
Requirements:
- Full UK Driving Licence (automatic licences accepted) is essential, as transportation of young people may be required.
- Over the age of 21.
- Ability to commute to Erdington, Birmingham.
- Experience as a Children's Support Worker or in a related care setting is desirable but not essential.
- Passion for working with young people and making a difference.
- Resilience and enthusiasm to work in a busy, ever-changing environment.
