Job Description:
A leading specialist provider is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Children's Support Worker to join a modern residential children’s home in Crediton. The Children's Support Worker role involves supporting young people aged 8-16 years with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours. This is a rewarding position for enthusiastic, resilient, and motivated individuals who want to make a positive impact on young people's lives by helping them develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally in a safe and caring environment. No two days are the same, and the role requires adaptability to work in a busy, ever-changing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Children's Support Worker, your key duties will include:
- Encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, depending on their age.
- Maintaining a homely, friendly environment within the residential setting.
- Managing challenging behaviours with patience and professionalism.
- Protecting children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Supporting children and young people to promote their independence and overall well-being.
- Ensuring a safe environment for all residents.
- Keeping up-to-date with individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems, and communication preferences.
- Supporting young people through taxing behaviours safely and sympathetically.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.
Requirements:
- Experience as a Children's Support Worker or with young people is desirable but not essential.
- Experience within healthcare or social care settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence, as transportation of young people may be required.
- Candidates must be over the age of 21 and able to commute to Crediton.
