Support Worker Job: Empowering Children & Young People in Crediton

Are you a motivated, adaptable, and committed Support Worker looking for a rewarding opportunity in Crediton? Join our modern semi-independent residential home and make a profound difference in the lives of children and young people aged 8-16 who are navigating Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

This is a permanent, full-time Support Worker position offering a competitive salary of £31,980 - £35,880 (inclusive of sleeps) for a 40-hour week. You'll be part of a supportive team, working a shift pattern of 9 am - 10 pm, followed by a sleep-in, and then 7 am - 9 am.

About the Role: Making a Difference Every Day

No two days are the same in this dynamic environment. As a Support Worker in Crediton, you'll be instrumental in creating a safe, homely, and friendly culture where children and young people feel secure and cared for. Your work will directly enable them to develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally, fostering their independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities of a Support Worker:

  • Encourage independence: Empower children and young people to take responsibility for their lives and engage in activities.

  • Maintain a supportive environment: Uphold the homely and friendly culture of our residential home.

  • Manage challenging behaviours: Confidently and sympathetically support children and young people through taxing behaviours.

  • Safeguarding: Protect children and young people's health and welfare, maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and guidelines.

  • Promote well-being: Provide essential support to enhance the independence and overall well-being of residents.

  • Build relationships: Foster strong working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals like psychologists.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking passionate individuals who want to kickstart or continue a career path within health & social care. While experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or with young people is desirable, it's not essential. Similarly, prior experience in other healthcare or social care settings is a plus, but we encourage all dedicated applicants.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence: You must be a car driver as transporting children and young people is a key part of the role.

  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be over the age of 21.

  • Commutable to Crediton: Ability to reliably commute to our home in Crediton.

Benefits of Joining Our Team:

We value our Support Workers and offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional growth and well-being:

  • Fully Funded QCF Level 4 Children & Young People Qualification: Advance your career with a highly recognized qualification.

  • Company Pension Scheme: Plan for your future with our robust pension contributions.

  • 28 Days Annual Leave: Enjoy ample time off to recharge.

  • Comprehensive Training Package: Benefit from ongoing face-to-face training and dedicated CPD planning.

  • Career Development Opportunities: Plenty of avenues to maximize your earnings and advance your career.

  • Enhanced Disclosure Cost Coverage: We cover the cost of your DBS check.

If you are a dedicated Support Worker eager to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people aged 8-16 with EBD in a rewarding Crediton-based role, we encourage you to apply today!

Chris at Vetro has been incredible.

I applied for a role I'd never done before, and not only did he help with my application process, but once I was offered an interview, he spent time ensuring I was sufficiently prepared. He has also made an once-a-week update meeting available to check on my onboarding process. If you're looking for work and support, I'd highly recommend Vetro Recruitment.
